Creating a Digital Strategy
To help you create your strategy, we’re sharing tips and advice from Jenn's Trends to grow your brand on social media platforms, especially on Instagram.
1. Instagram is NOT the same as Facebook
Of course, there are some similarities on both platforms but the differences are what make them their own awesome network.
Instagram is about capturing moments, use a beautiful image to catch followers' attention. Play with emojis, hashtags, and use the location to reach people around you. This platform is a more mobile-friendly and younger user base, so focus your content on first-time buyers, for example.
Facebook is a multimedia social network that allows you to create an event, have groups, share content, and links.
It’s a mature audience that might be thinking about selling their homes, for example. Longer text performs better on Facebook mod of the time.
2. Instagram Stories
Consider making live videos to get prioritized placement. You can show a new property or talk about a topic. Promote the live video before as well to get more views.
Use the stickers to generate more engagement, ask questions to people to interact with you. If you’re having an Open House soon, use the countdown sticker. Be creative!
3. Keep "Selling" at a Minimum
We understand you want to promote all your listings but your social media channel doesn’t need to be all about it. Otherwise, your followers will be overwhelmed and tired of the same content and will stop following your account. No more than 20% of your postings should be about a listing.
4. Humanize the Brand
It’s also interesting to post information about your background - how you started as an agent, your motivation, why do you like this professional, etc - and share your success in the industry - houses sold and clients testimonials.
5. Make it Personal
You might be wondering, what other contents should I post beside the property listings?
People connect with people, so showcase part of your lifestyle, family, and activities, show off what’s going on at your community and neighborhood - local park events, for example.
Be yourself, use your lingo, add emojis, and post some personal contents that others can relate to.
6. Less content but better content
You don’t need to post every day; your content will start to compete with itself.
Create three to five posts per week that stand out and capture people’s attention. Post with a purpose.
7. Make it Instagrammy
Take beautiful pictures of your house listings!
It doesn’t need to be the entire house or the standard front of the house sales image, focus on the best features of the property, and use it as a selling point. Play with angles and make it colorful.
8. Stop Repurposing Flyers
Use images with simple text overlays. People like pretty images and fun content. Be creativity!
9. Provide Education
Give homeowners tips and advice, answer common questions, resources to make their selling or buying process easier.
You can also share a link for more details or support (on Instagram you can add the link on your profile bio).
10. Make it… Fun, Valuable, Relevant
Keep it fun as a professional!
Be valuable and keep content relevant to people who follow you and work with you in the future.
